Air Products (Middle East) FZE wants Project Logistics Lead (PWE)

Job Description and Qualifications

1. Priorities and ObjectivesEnsure SAFETY at all times.
2. Developing the client relationship/ developing a partnership as to meet client’s needs but keep company out of risk and in a profitable position.
3. Take responsibility of any special Logistics related engineering, design, location or scale factors affecting the project element, by monitoring packages and solving problems proactively.
4. Ensure Logistics are executed within the budget / allowances.
5. Ensure the correct contract scope is properly understood in accordance with the project specifications, standards and local legislative requirements (as applicable).
6. Ensure flawless implementation of the Project Logistics Management and Operations plans.
7. Ensure correct planning and scheduling of the Logistics scope and workflow sequence, throughout the project element Logistics cycle. Ensure that the work is executed in accordance with the agreed integrated schedule.
8. Identify and account for any deviations from the programme and determine what corrective action is needed.
9. Ensure that a system for the recording and reporting of work is compiled and material and equipment movements are adhered to.
10. Effective management, assessment, and mitigation of risk (both threat and opportunity).
11. Manage all Logistics related interfaces both internally between disciplines, internally with procurement, construction & other Project elements and externally with Vendors and Client.
12. Compliance with the company and Quality procedures.
13. Responsible for the development of his/her subordinates and their training to ensure maximum performance, by evaluating subordinates and ensuring their development by training them or sending them on training that is required.
14. Monitor and control sub-contractors and consultants by holding updated meetings regularly and monitoring progress and consult on any changes.
15. Ensure that sub-contractors to be used by the project team are properly assessed / approved, and that QA procedures are adhered to by sub-contractors.

Roles and Responsibility

Management of respective Project Logistics related activities

1. Liaison with the Site based Subcontractors’ Logistics team to ensure it has sight of upcoming (ODC) shipments and the necessary arrangements are in place to receive and transport materials & equipment to site.
2. Verification of compliance with the logistics requirements specified
3. Ensure Logistics Service Provider Compliance
4. Providing assurance to internal customers that all requirements are fully executed / fulfilled and on schedule
5. Complying with project logistics performance targets and indicators, and subsequently maintaining records, analyzing and reporting of the respective subcontractors’ Logistics performance
6. Manage Logistics coordination with other Project Elements where activities clash or create a bottleneck at site/Port
7. Maintain a strong HSE awareness and technical safety in Logistics. Promote safe working practice within the teams at all work sites.
8. Provide support to subcontractors to ensure that common Logistics and contractual goals and objectives are achieved.
9. Manage the Subcontractors’ Logistics reporting interfaces.
10. Ensure consistent application of the Air Products Logistics standards and compliance requirements across the Subcontractors
11. Participation in, or leading investigation of Logistics related incidents in the execution of the project related scope
12. Timely operational Logistics reporting (weekly & monthly) for the Project Element.
13. Attend monthly progress meetings on site
14. Highlight any risks to achieving timely delivery of materials and equipment.
15. Promote and maintain strong Teamwork and Respect with/for all parties.
16. Maintain sound, workable inter-discipline communication and teamwork within the procurement team.
17. Maintain a strong EPC culture within the project (appreciation and effective communication with the respective parties – HSE, construction, projects,.
18. Manage and maintain the Project Logistics schedule.
19. Ensure that the complete correct list of equipment and materials is established and specified for Transportation planning purposes including all dimensions and weights
20. Ensure Logistics compliance with company IMS and procedures.
21. Sound understanding of multi-discipline environment.

Qualifications & requirements

Experience:      10 years or more

Degree:             Not required but desirable

• 10 years’ experience or more working for Tier1 Project Logistics companies, EPC Contractors, or OEM in the Wind/Renewables industry mandatory
• Experience in a lead role for 3 years or more mandatory
• Experience with capital projects wind and solar projects mandatory
• Multimodal experience mandatory
• Out of Gauge cargo transportation mandatory
• Project management experience
• CILT not required but desirable
• Logistics related degree desirable but not required
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) mandatory
