D1 Minimum $40,473 Maximum $87,562 (Additional salary may be available, but is not guaranteed, for summer employment)
The Career Technical Education Faculty ELT Instructor, Industrial Electrical Technology will report to the Campus Chair and will be responsible for the day-to-day activities in their respective departments. Special functions may include recommending class scheduling, providing information for budget planning, counseling, student recruitment, registration, working with student organizations, appropriate record keeping, and teaching all assigned classes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to adhering to the guidelines as specified by Bevill State Community College Personnel Handbook, the President of Bevill State, the College administration, and the State Board of Education, duties will include the following:
- Teach classes/labs as assigned. Classes/labs may be scheduled during the day, evening, or weekend and at any campus/instructional site deemed necessary.
- Achieve program/instructor certifications within the first year of employment and maintain program/instructor certification.
- Request material, equipment, and supplies as needed for the electrical program.
- Assist students as an advisor in developing class schedules, program planning, and career counseling.
- Maintain updated course syllabi for all courses taught and provide a syllabus to all students enrolled in the class. Each faculty member will adhere to the course syllabus and plans of instruction.
- Achieve proficiency in Canvas and incorporate it in the delivery of all courses.
- Review and recommend revision of curriculum periodically and provide input to the college-wide curriculum committee.
- Assist in the development of course offerings each term.
- Provide input for Annual Needs Assessment.
- Maintain and submit Perkins forms as needed.
- Maintain all records as needed for the instructional program and the college.
- Participate on college-wide committees as assigned.
- Provide library information to students. Recommend library additions to enhance course.
- Maintain professional conduct in dealing with students, staff, administration, faculty, and the college community.
- Adhere to prescribed procedures in all financial operations of the division.
- Maintain safe practices in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
- Actively recruit students for the program and the College.
- Compile and dispense necessary reports in a timely manner.
- Participate in the planning and budgeting processes for the electrical program.
- Assist in enforcing all college policies.
- Assist in the coordination of the institutional effectiveness plan.
- Participate in and facilitate advisory committee meetings, recruit advisory committee members, and host at least 2 meetings annually.
- Attend faculty and staff meetings.
- Participate in approved professional development activities through professional organizations, seminars, and programs designed to maintain and improve skills.
- Use technology in the classroom for presentations and hands on experience.
- Assume all other duties assigned.
Qualifications
An Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or related discipline is required. A Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. Experience in teaching in the Post-Secondary level is preferred. At least five years of full-time experience as a practitioner in field is required. Solid understanding of the principles taught: DC/AC Theory, Solid State Devices, Programmable Logic Controllers (Siemens/Allen Bradley), Motor Control, Process Control (SCADA, Ovation DCS, ABB DCS). Additionally, if an Associate s Degree is accepted, a Bachelor s Degree must be obtained within 35 months of hire.
