Duties and Responsibilities
- He shall report to the unit Consultant, the Surgical Tutor and to the Chief of Surgery.
- He shall take on-call duties according to the requirements of the department.
- He shall carry out all the clinical and other duties assigned to him by the unit Consultant and/or the Surgical Tutor.
- He shall evaluate the patients under his care, take and document the history and physical examination. Formulates a plan for investigation and management and execute this plan after discussion with and obtaining the approval of his Seniors.
- He shall accompany the unit Consultant in all his ward rounds and shall be responsible for the completion of any orders arising there from.
- He shall enter the daily progress notes and writes all the pre and post-operative orders in the patient’s file.
- He shall be responsible for discharging patients as directed and for completing the discharge summary and sick leave form, which shall be countersigned by his Senior.
- He shall perform his own mid-day or end of day round, his preoperative and postoperative clerk rounds and when going off duty shall endorse all his patients to his Colleagues on call.
- He may operate on patients either elective or emergency at his own level of delineated credentials under the direct supervision of a Senior Scrub with him.
- He shall participate in the educational and research projects in the Department.
- Perform other duties within the realm of his qualifications and experience.

- Experience in teaching and clinical research.
- Current and updated clinical knowledge.

- Ability to deal calmly, with tact and diplomacy to patient and staff alike.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
