Archeotech, a division of Isam Kabbani & Partners for Construction & Maintenance, provides archaeological and heritage services that manages the impact of development on cultural heritage resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia . Archeotech is looking to appoint a Heritage Project Manager who will be involved in the successful management of heritage projects from inception to completion, assisting the Archaeological Director. This is a key and varied role, which will include the preparation of Technical Proposals and Commercial Offers, planning and coordinating heritage projects; fieldwork; direct supervision of teams of heritage personnel during fieldwork; and production of technical reports, including Heritage Impact Assessments .Duties and Responsibilities prepare Technical Proposals with Commercial Offers, Heritage Impact Assessment Reports, Rapid Site Assessment Reports, Watching Brief Assessment Reports, Standing Building Survey Reports; and Archaeological Assessment Reports; direct and participate in multiple archaeological projects including landscape survey, archaeological evaluations, standing building surveys, excavations and watching briefs. coordination of on-site logistics for archaeological projects and resolve problems to ensure the timely, safe, and effective completion of program; conduct walk-over surveys and rapid site assessments; conduct archaeological fieldwork (survey, evaluation, excavation, and watching briefs) when required; direct supervision of teams of field archaeologists, ensuring that excavation and recording procedures are maintained to the highest standard and that work is completed to scope; ensure the application of safe work practices by crew members during survey and excavation projects; assist with project planning activities, to include identifying appropriate equipment, resources and personnel required, project budgets, and project design;provide quality archaeological field training to trainee field archaeologists;assists material culture and environmental specialists in accessing material and data; co-ordinate the archiving of data and materials; liaison with clients, government bodies (for example, the Royal Commission of Al-Ula), contractors, and other stakeholders; and performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Working Conditions and Physical Effort Work can involve exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises. Work environments can involve exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work requires hiking in rugged terrain with elevation changes of more than 250 meters.

Minimum Job Requirements A BA/BSc degree or higher in Archaeology, or equivalent discipline (Masters preferred).At least 10 years of supervisory field experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, to include solid working experience of commercial archaeology. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required A team player who works well with others and treats all individuals with respect (essential)An individual with the skills to negotiate and diffuse interpersonal conflicts If and when they arise (essential)Ability to remain calm, flexible, and focused in all situations (essential)Sound knowledge and experience in all aspects of archaeological field work, with a working knowledge of single context excavation and recording methodologies (essential), specifically: experience of archaeological excavation techniques familiarity with standard archaeological context sheets and recording convention sability to draw scale plans, elevations and sections experience of collecting and inventorying finds and samples knowledge of archaeological photography understanding of archaeological stratigraphy and phasing knowledge of Harris Matrix ability to interpret archaeological sequences and coherently explain them, verbally and in writing Demonstrable experience in interpretating archaeological sites and data (essential)Experience in supervising mechanical excavation (bobcat, back-hoe etc.) (essential)Skills in making rapid site assessments (identifying the presence of and potential for heritage remains through walkover surveys and desk-based data collection) (essential)Experience in conducting Heritage Impact Assessments and producing Heritage Impact Assessment Reports (essential)Experience in preparing quotes and budgets for archaeological field projects (essential)Knowledge of safe operating procedures, regulations, and standards appropriate to archaeological work sites (essential)Experience in producing health and safety at work procedures and documents (essential)Ability to use computers for data entry and word processing (essential)Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments (essential)Ability to work in difficult conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, and hot, desert environments) (essential)Experience of working in the MENA region (essential) Fluency in English (essential)Good spoken Arabic (desirable) Ability to produce standing buildings and landscape surveys (desirable)GIS experience (the ability to produce maps, and to use and understand shapefiles) (desirable)Skill in off-road desert driving (rough terrain and sand) (desirable)Knowledge of surveying and mapping equipment (desirable)
